Even if you aren't a movie buff it's tough to forget about one of the great car chases caught on film of all time in Bullitt, starring the late great star, Steve McQueen. The chase scene, prominently featuring McQueen racing through the streets of San Francisco in a Ford Mustang is so revered and popular, that it's inspired countless others across film, music and culture; 40 years after its theatrical release. FOX's new series Alcatraz is no different, as the show seeks to recreate the epic chase for an upcoming episode.
Film crews for the TV show recently spend hours across various locations in the Bay Area attempting to replicate the chase down to every minute detail, using a modern interpretation of the famous Ford Mustang as part of the season finale, set to air March 26. Be sure to check your local listings for air times.
We've seen this done before, to varying degrees of success, but with producer J.J. Abrams, the creator of hits like Lost, Alias and the recent Star Trek reboot at the helm, Bickford Ford thinks the classic chase is in good hands.
